They relate basically to the safety of the charging stations, battery storage, safe battery charging, etc. Battery swapping is one area. And the sky is the limit.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"1355\" data-end=\"1510\">These standards aim to ensure <strong data-start=\"1385\" data-end=\"1441\">safety, quality, compatibility, and interoperability<\/strong> across the EV ecosystem, including charging and swapping stations.<\/p><hr data-start=\"1512\" data-end=\"1515\" \/><h2 data-start=\"1517\" data-end=\"1558\">Standards in Artificial Intelligence<\/h2><p data-start=\"1560\" data-end=\"1747\">Beyond e-mobility, BIS is also focusing on <strong data-start=\"1603\" data-end=\"1635\">artificial intelligence (AI)<\/strong>. According to Tiwari, AI is a <strong data-start=\"1666\" data-end=\"1694\">fast-evolving technology<\/strong> that requires frequent updates in standardization.<\/p><blockquote data-start=\"1749\" data-end=\"1864\"><p data-start=\"1751\" data-end=\"1864\">\u201cOur focus was to standardise definitional aspects of AI, and we did it. Many other verticals are in progress.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"1866\" data-end=\"1999\">This shows BIS\u2019s proactive approach in ensuring India\u2019s industries are aligned with <strong data-start=\"1950\" data-end=\"1996\">global AI frameworks and safety benchmarks<\/strong>.<\/p><hr data-start=\"2001\" data-end=\"2004\" \/><h2 data-start=\"2006\" data-end=\"2042\">Expanding Product Certification<\/h2><p data-start=\"2044\" data-end=\"2310\">Currently, nearly <strong data-start=\"2062\" data-end=\"2078\">700 products<\/strong> fall under <strong data-start=\"2090\" data-end=\"2121\">mandatory BIS certification<\/strong>. Under the <strong data-start=\"2133\" data-end=\"2147\">CRS scheme<\/strong>, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (<strong data-start=\"2205\" data-end=\"2214\">MeitY<\/strong>) has identified <strong data-start=\"2231\" data-end=\"2246\">65 products<\/strong> that cannot be manufactured or imported without BIS approval.<\/p><p data-start=\"2312\" data-end=\"2400\">This system helps in maintaining <strong data-start=\"2345\" data-end=\"2397\">product quality, safety, and consumer confidence<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2402\" data-end=\"2457\">When asked about future expansions, Tiwari clarified:<\/p><blockquote data-start=\"2459\" data-end=\"2653\"><p data-start=\"2461\" data-end=\"2653\">\u201cWhich products will be included? That\u2019s very difficult because the decision rests with the ministries. Our job is only to familiarise them with the new standards and also to motivate them.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><hr data-start=\"2655\" data-end=\"2658\" \/><h2 data-start=\"2660\" data-end=\"2716\">Rajiv Gauba Committee: Reviewing Industrial Hurdles<\/h2><p data-start=\"2718\" data-end=\"2897\">A <strong data-start=\"2720\" data-end=\"2744\">high-level committee<\/strong>, led by <strong data-start=\"2753\" data-end=\"2815\">former Cabinet Secretary and NITI Aayog member Rajiv Gauba<\/strong>, is currently reviewing the <strong data-start=\"2844\" data-end=\"2894\">hurdles industries face in obtaining approvals<\/strong>.<\/p><p data-start=\"2899\" data-end=\"3099\">The committee\u2019s task is to identify <strong data-start=\"2935\" data-end=\"2977\">bottlenecks in standards and processes<\/strong> that affect <strong data-start=\"2990\" data-end=\"3026\">productivity and competitiveness<\/strong>. On its progress, Tiwari confirmed that the <strong data-start=\"3071\" data-end=\"3097\">\u201cwork is in progress.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><hr data-start=\"3101\" data-end=\"3104\" \/><h2 data-start=\"3106\" data-end=\"3148\">Hallmarking and Bullion Certification<\/h2><p data-start=\"3150\" data-end=\"3382\">BIS also continues to expand its hallmarking framework for <strong data-start=\"3209\" data-end=\"3242\">precious metals and jewellery<\/strong>. While hallmarking is already mandatory for gold jewellery, the extension to <strong data-start=\"3320\" data-end=\"3331\">bullion<\/strong> (raw precious metals) is still under discussion.<\/p><blockquote data-start=\"3384\" data-end=\"3559\"><p data-start=\"3386\" data-end=\"3559\">\u201cBullion is still under consideration. We have had consultations with stakeholders, but several challenges have been pointed out. These issues are still being sorted out.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote><p data-start=\"3561\" data-end=\"3689\">For clarity, <strong data-start=\"3574\" data-end=\"3615\">bullion refers to raw precious metals<\/strong> like <strong data-start=\"3621\" data-end=\"3662\">gold, silver, platinum, and palladium<\/strong>, not finished jewellery.<\/p><hr data-start=\"3691\" data-end=\"3694\" \/><h2 data-start=\"3696\" data-end=\"3711\">Conclusion<\/h2><p data-start=\"3713\" data-end=\"4063\">From <strong data-start=\"3718\" data-end=\"3743\">EV charging standards<\/strong> to <strong data-start=\"3747\" data-end=\"3764\">AI frameworks<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"3769\" data-end=\"3803\">consumer product certification<\/strong>, BIS is playing a central role in shaping India\u2019s industrial standards.
